The Great MediterraneanShip: Ruby Princess
Ports of Call: Barcelona, Spain; Toulon, France; Livorno, Italy; Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy; Naples, Italy; Mykonos, Greece; Istanbul, Turkey; Kusadasi, Turkey; Piraeus (Athens), Greece; Venice, Italy
We are looking to find peace in the peal of centuries-old church bells, savoring ouzo beneath an olive tree, haggling for sweets in a bustling bazaar, and visiting paintings more famous than pop stars on our Mediterranean cruise.
We expect to see Museums the size of palaces, actual palaces, breathtaking ruins, and decades of culture.
We plan to sate our sweet tooth at a gelato stand, get lost in the Doge, drift through Venice canals, sip strong Turkish coffee (or tea), connect to the past.
We understand the local color of the Mediterranean is unmatched when it comes to fresh, local foods. We plan to indulge in estate-pressed olive oils, fresh-baked breads, by-the-cup coffees/teas, and specialty sweets.
We'll try not to forget that stores and museums often close for long lunch breaks so we'll check attraction schedules before we arrive.
